The Board of NHS County Durham is made up of 13 executive
members and non-executive directors. Non-executive directors (lay
people) must always be in the majority on the Board. This is a
government ruling to ensure that the executive directors are held
to account for services they deliver by members of the public.
Non-executive directors bring to the Board their experience of
living in the area, coupled with abilities to work at board level.
Each one has a different area of professional expertise.
The NHS County Durham Board ensures that NHS County Durham is
held accountable for the services delivered to members of the
public.
